The biggest sailing event in Perth since the America's cup, the Grolsch 2002 International 505 Worlds, 3rd - 14th December at Fremantle Sailing Club. The Grolsch Australian 505 Nationals are the pre-worlds warm up event December 3rd to December 6th.

The predominant wind is 15 - 25 Knots from the right hand side (south west) of the picture. The tides are very small and not an issue. Seas are typically 1m and the swell can get up to 2 - 3 meters. Water temperature is about 20C, so a light wet suit is sufficient.

1.
ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The Organising Authority for the regatta is Fremantle
Sailing Club (FSC) on behalf of the Western Australian International 505
Association and the International 505 Yacht Racing
Association.
2.
RULES
The regattas will be
governed by;
·
the
rules as defined by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing
(RRS)
·
the
rules of the International 505 Class Yacht Racing Association, (except as any of
these are altered by the sailing instructions)
·
and by
the sailing instructions.
If there is a
conflict between languages, the English text will
prevail.
3.
AMENDMENTS
The Organising
Authority reserves the right to amend this notice of race. Any changes before 1 November 2002 will
be published on the regatta website.
Subsequent changes will also be posted on the regatta notice
board.
4.
ADVERTISING
The regatta will be classified as a
Category C Event in accordance with Appendix 1 of the RRS and the Prescriptions
of the AYF. Competing boats
may be required to display supplied advertising logos of the regatta sponsors in
accordance with the template supplied at registration on the forward 25% of the
hull.
5.
ELIGIBILITY
Competitors shall
meet the requirements of RRS Appendix 2, be members of the International 505
Class Yacht Racing Association and have paid the entry fee for the
regattas. Competitors shall
provide proof of public liability insurance to $A 5 million in respect of each
boat. Insurance for the event is
available locally at competitive rates if required. See the regatta website for
details.
Eligible competitors
may enter on the attached Entry Form, which shall be lodged by 30 September
2002.
6.
FEES
The regatta fee shall be $A 960 GST
inclusive per boat. This includes
entry to both regattas, and entry to social events. A late entry fee of $A 200 will be
levied to entries received after 30 September 2002. Special dispensation may be offered on a
case-by-case basis to boats from developing nations.

8.
MEASUREMENT
A valid
International 505 class measurement certificate shall be presented for each
boat. Lost measurement certificates
may be replaced at registration for a cost of $A 30. Boats shall be presented for inspection
on the allocated measurement day and time (see regatta website for allocated
times after 30 September 2002) and comply with other procedural directions that
may be made by the Championship Measurer or the Race Committee. No more than two suits of sails and two
sets of spars may be presented for measurement. Boats may be subject to further
inspection during the regattas.
Boats that have passed measurement for the Australian Championship
(Pre-World Regatta) and have not made any changes need not present for
re-measurement prior to the World
Championship.
9.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
A printed copy of
the Sailing Instructions will be made available upon registration for each
championship at the FSC. Electronic
copies may be made available earlier on the regatta
website.
10. REGATTA
SITE AND RACING AREA
The regatta site
shall be the FSC and the racing area shall be adjacent to
FSC.
11.
COURSES
Gate starts will be
used except in extreme circumstances.
The course will be sausage – triangle – sausage. For days where only one race is
scheduled, a windward leg will be sailed to the finish. For days where back-to-back races are
scheduled, a downwind finish will be sailed.
12.
SCORING
The Low Point
scoring system, Appendix A of the RRS will apply. A minimum of three races shall be
completed to constitute a series.
13.
JURY
A National Jury will be
constituted for the Australian Championship in accordance with the AYF special
regulations addendum B. Approval
has been sought for the decisions of the Jury to be final in accordance with RRS
70.4 and to deny the right of appeal.
An International
Jury will be constituted for the World Championship in accordance with Appendix
M of the RRS and the decisions of the Jury will be final in accordance with RRS
70.4. The right of appeal is
denied.
14. ELECTRONIC
COMMUNICATIONS
A boat shall neither
make nor receive electronic communications including, but not limited to, radio
and mobile telephone communications while racing.
15.
MEDIA
The event may be filmed, and the
International 505 Association of Western Australia or nominee owns all
footage and pictures, and no competitor shall have any claim in this
regard.
